Our IVF/ICSI Journey

It worked – it actually worked (this is what I have to keep telling myself because there are days when it still doesn’t feel real)!  The last three months have been quite the roller coaster for us.  We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support from our friends and family.

We started the testing process back in the fall to make sure everything was okay to move forward.

First Impressions

I just realized that I never wrote a post about my entryway.  I was so excited to finally complete it that I only posted a picture on Instagram!  I was also thrilled to get a call out from OneKingsLane for using their ginger jars on their Instagram feed – check it out here.  Our entry is one of my favorite spots in our home- it’s simple, bright and big – it’s also the first thing that our guests see when they come over!

IVF Round 1 – Day 1

Today was our first appointment for our IVF cycle.  We are both so excited but super nervous.  When we showed up at the office we had expected to start the drugs Thursday but instead we started today.  I seriously can’t believe it – I still feel like this isn’t really happening!  We had our teaching class to show us how to mix the drugs and what dosages are needed.  For some reason mixing the drugs is what terrifies me the most.

NYE Photo Session

For Christmas, my mother-in-law asked for a recent picture of me and Brent.  Since we didn’t get to spend the holiday with them, we opted to wait to do the photo until NYE.  Our friend, neighbor and (my) work buddy took us out for a quick 20 minute session by our house!  We went by one of the ponds in our neighborhood and snapped a few quick pics.  Jen did a great job!  We seriously love how they turned out (especially after only 10 minutes of getting ready and not knowing how to use Photoshop)!

Christmas Dinner!

This was our first year cooking a turkey and hosting Christmas for my in-laws (unfortunately they ended up with the flu Christmas Eve and couldn’t make it in).  It was fun but not as much fun as getting the table ready.  I started playing with the table setting the weekend before Christmas.  I didn’t want to try something and then decide last minute that something was missing (a mistake that I made over Thanksgiving –

Baby it’s Cold Outside

I had so much fun preparing for the holidays this year!  One of things that I was most excited about was the hot chocolate bar that I had planned.  For those of you who know me, I have a major sweet tooth.  It took almost everything out of me to not eat it all before Christmas Eve!  I found most of the stuff at World Market and HomeGoods – about 3 weeks before Christmas.

That’s a Wrap!

I absolutely LOVE wrapping presents.  I enjoy taking my time and adding something special to each present.  This year I decided to add an ornament to each gift. I found some really pretty ornaments at Kohls and they were 55% off!  Target also had some really cute ornaments this year as well as Indigo (one of my favorite Canadian home décor stores).  What is your favorite thing about wrapping presents?

Schedule

Great news!  The nurse called today with our schedule for IVF – January 5th is our tentative first day of IVF.  It is crazy to think that THIS is really happening.  I can’t believe that after going through this battle for over three years, our day is finally within reach!  I have so many emotions right now – fear, joy, hope and worry are just a few.  I think back to the times when people would ask me about children and I would tell them that I didn’t want any.

One step forward

Today was a big day for us – we finally met with the fertility doctor.  He had such encouraging words for us and really made us feel better about the entire process.  It was really was nice to finally hear that our chances are good that IVF will work.

It has been a long year.  We have tried acupuncture, various isotonic vitamins, herbs, natural supplements and many other random “old wives tales” but still nothing worked.

Remix

I have been pretty bored the last couple of days;  I haven’t really left the house.  Still feeling a bit of discomfort after the procedure but nothing that I can’t handle.  Since I have been so stir crazy, I decided to try some different looks on our dining room table using what I already had out from Thanksgiving.

xo,
