I just realized that I never wrote a post about my entryway. I was so excited to finally complete it that I only posted a picture on Instagram! I was also thrilled to get a call out from OneKingsLane for using their ginger jars on their Instagram feed – check it out here. Our entry is one of my favorite spots in our home- it’s simple, bright and big – it’s also the first thing that our guests see when they come over!
I thought today was going to be easy until I found out that I had to take the second shot. As soon as I read the message in my portal I started to shake. I don’t mind the needles. In fact, I’m getting pretty good at injecting but I am just so worried the entire time that I am going to screw something up while prepping. We had a really hard time tonight trying to get the medicine into the syringe.
Today was our first appointment for our IVF cycle. We are both so excited but super nervous. When we showed up at the office we had expected to start the drugs Thursday but instead we started today. I seriously can’t believe it – I still feel like this isn’t really happening! We had our teaching class to show us how to mix the drugs and what dosages are needed. For some reason mixing the drugs is what terrifies me the most.
This was our first year cooking a turkey and hosting Christmas for my in-laws (unfortunately they ended up with the flu Christmas Eve and couldn’t make it in). It was fun but not as much fun as getting the table ready. I started playing with the table setting the weekend before Christmas. I didn’t want to try something and then decide last minute that something was missing (a mistake that I made over Thanksgiving –
I absolutely LOVE wrapping presents. I enjoy taking my time and adding something special to each present. This year I decided to add an ornament to each gift. I found some really pretty ornaments at Kohls and they were 55% off! Target also had some really cute ornaments this year as well as Indigo (one of my favorite Canadian home décor stores). What is your favorite thing about wrapping presents?
This was our first Thanksgiving with a dining table and chairs! I have been so excited to decorate for Christmas that I didn’t really think too much about what I was going to do today. I had pinned a ton of things on Pinterest but really never went out and bought any of it. So today required some improvising. I bought the pumpkins four years ago for a Halloween party that we hosted – I had totally forgot that I had black ones and almost didn’t even use them until I looked back at my pins!
I am still getting used to the big deal that is Thanksgiving but I can honestly say, I kind of like it! Growing up in Canada, Thanksgiving was quite different for me – Canadians celebrate it in October and on a Monday. It’s definitely not as big of a deal as it is in the United States. This will be my 13th Thanksgiving in the US (I think I did get to go home for a couple of them while in college) but only my third one actually cooking with Brent.
Yesterday was the dreaded procedure. I can honestly say that it wasn’t as bad as I thought that it was going to be. As we were driving in, both Jen and I became a bit skeptical – the facility wasn’t in the nicest of areas…but we also determined that we took the worst route possible. Everything was fairly fast. We arrived, checked in, and then about 10 minutes later, we were taken back into the prep room.
This upcoming Wednesday is a big day for us. We will be one step closer to starting IVF. Although I am excited to get the process started, I am also quite nervous. The test requires general anesthesia, something that I have never had before, which also means needles (I ALWAYS pass out). On top of that, Brent is out of town for work and will be until the end of the year. Fortunately, my friend will be taking me to the appointment and picking me up –
This past week I have been to Target at least three times in order to buy the perfect holiday decorations. I swear, Target has the best selection of cute but still chic Christmas decorations. I had the hardest time going to sleep Thursday night because I couldn’t stop thinking about decorating. I spent most of today finalizing what all I actually needed by putting together a few trial looks. Here is a sneak peak at our dining room.
